Contact me
I love hearing from people and will do my best to respond to all legitimate communication as promptly as I can.
However, such is the reality of online communications these days that I, like many others, receive a lot of unwanted messages too. Save yourself (and me) some time and see the list below for things I will and will not respond to.
The quickest and easiest way to get in touch with me is email: me@mattknight.io
Self-hosted
I self-host several communication platforms where I can be found online. While they do support private messaging, in general I would prefer to receive an email from you unless we’ve communicated before. If in doubt, email me.
- Mastodon: @matt@knight.fyi
- Matrix: @matt:knight.fyi
Online accounts
I’m not a big fan of centralized social media so you won’t find me on the likes of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. However, I do have a presence on several, typically technology-related platforms. I don’t generally recommend you reach out to me unsolicited on these platforms (again: email is preferred), but include these here so you can correlate my presence across the web.
- Discord: AbstractVector#4514
- Docker Hub: abstractvector
- GitHub: abstractvector
- NPM: abstractvector
- Reddit: Nimco

Security
If for some reason you need to verify my identity or authorize my access to a system, the best option is my public SSH keys:
I don’t currently support GPG or similar for receiving signed or encrypted email, but if you really need to send me something that securely, then I’d recommend either my self-hosted end-to-end encrypted Matrix address, or something like age encryption using my public SSH key.
Do’s and don’ts
it’s really not that hard
It’s a shame that this even needs saying, but sadly it does. My list here was inspired by Troy Hunt’s guidelines, so a big thank-you to him for sharing!
TL;DR - don’t send me spam but if it’s a genuine, relevant message then I’d love to hear from you!
I’ll try my best to respond to:
- Questions and constructive feedback about content on this website
- Enquiries regarding speaking at relevant industry events and conferences
- Invitations for interviews in relevant blog posts, podcasts, YouTube videos, etc
- Compensated requests to test or review interesting and relevant products from reputable brands
- Professional engagement including product / technical consulting, sponsorship, etc
I might not always respond to:
- General technical questions - there are plenty of great online communities and forums, and they'll generally be able to help you better than I can
- Messages not obviously warranting a reply
I will absolutely not respond to:
- No - I will not read or publish your guest post
- No - I will not test or review irrelevant products or those from brands I’ve never heard of, even for compensation
- No - I will not link to your website in some scammy back-link scheme
In addition to ignoring your communication entirely if it falls into the group above, I reserve the right to do one or more of the following:
- Block you on whatever plaform you chose to contact me through
- Add your email and IP address to one or more spam block lists and / or reputation databases
- Publicly name and shame you and / or the company you represent, exposing your scammy behavior
- Waste your time in the same way you’ve chosen to waste mine
